We’re looking for a confident, experienced and hands-on Supervisor / Team Leader to join the management team at Spirit Plymouth.
This role is ideal for someone with previous supervisory or team leader experience within hospitality, nightlife, bars, restaurants, leisure, retail or another similar fast-paced customer-facing environment.
You’ll work closely with the venue management team to lead our bar and floor staff, maintain high standards throughout the venue and ensure our customers receive a great experience from doors open through to close.
The Role
As a Supervisor / Team Leader, you’ll take an active role in the running of shifts, supporting management while leading the bar and floor team. You’ll also assist with back-of-house administration and operational tasks where required, helping the management team with the day-to-day running of the venue.
This is a hands-on position. You’ll be expected to lead by example, whether that means supporting a busy bar, dealing with a customer issue, organising staff, restocking, maintaining venue standards or helping the team get through a busy period.
You’ll also help ensure that licensing requirements, Challenge 25, responsible alcohol service and company procedures are followed throughout every shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate bar and floor staff throughout shifts
- Allocate staff positions, breaks and duties as required
- Support the management team with the smooth running of the venue
- Assist with back-of-house administration and operational tasks where required, including completing paperwork, maintaining records, supporting stock administration and carrying out other general administrative duties as directed by management
- Lead by example and provide hands-on support during busy periods
- Maintain high standards of customer service across the venue
- Monitor bar and floor standards, cleanliness and presentation
- Support with opening and closing procedures
- Ensure bars and service areas remain stocked and organised
- Deal confidently and professionally with customer queries and complaints
- Support and train new and existing team members
- Ensure Challenge 25 and responsible alcohol service procedures are followed
- Help ensure licensing conditions, health & safety requirements and company procedures are followed
- Communicate effectively with management, bar, floor and security teams
- Identify and report any operational, customer or staff issues to management
- Support the team in creating a safe, welcoming and energetic atmosphere for our guests
What We’re Looking For
- Previous Supervisor or Team Leader experience is required, ideally within hospitality, nightlife, bars, restaurants or another similar fast-paced sector
- Confident leading and motivating a team
- Strong communication and people-management skills
- Comfortable making decisions and taking responsibility during a shift
- Excellent customer service skills
- Reliable, organised and punctual
- Comfortable assisting with basic administration and back-of-house tasks when required
- Able to remain calm and professional in a busy environment
- A hands-on attitude and willingness to support the team wherever required
- Good understanding of responsible alcohol service and Challenge 25
- Flexible availability, including evenings, late nights and weekends
- Personal Licence preferred but not essential
- Previous nightclub or late-night hospitality experience is beneficial but not essential
