Female Support Worker for Deaf Client
Location: Handforth
Hours: 37 hours per week (part-time will be considered) Flexible working hours to include evenings, weekend and public holidays according to the needs of the service.
Salary: £13.45 – £15.85 per hour
Contract: Permanent
About the Role
SEA Support Services is looking for a kind, energetic, and compassionate female personal carer to support a hearing-impaired young girl with severe learning disabilities who doesn’t speak. This role requires someone who can create a warm, safe, and joyful environment where she can thrive. You’ll be part of a small, experienced support team providing 1:1 support to help her live her life to the fullest.
Your Role
Your role will focus on providing consistent care, communication support, and meaningful engagement. As her personal carer, your responsibilities will include:
- Daily routines and personal care (female carer required for personal care tasks)
- Communication and engagement throughout the day
- Activities, outings, and supporting her work skills placements
- Creating a safe, encouraging, and structured environment
- Maintaining her safety and well-being at all times
- Providing emotional reassurance and a calm, positive presence
- Supporting her to understand, express herself, and connect with others
- Helping her learn new skills within everyday routines
- Creating opportunities for her to learn, achieve, and grow at her own pace
- Encouraging interaction, emotional regulation, and independence
- Working collaboratively with family members, other professionals, and your team to ensure consistent, high-quality support
About the Person You’ll Be Supporting
She is a vibrant young girl who flourishes in the company of people who are:
- Loving and patient
- Bubbly and enthusiastic
- Attentive, creative, and responsive to her communication style
- Able to make her feel secure, included, and valued
- Able to bring humour, positivity, and fun into her daily routine
She communicates using Total Communication approach (signing coupled with speech, gestures, objects of reference, facial expressions, simple symbols, modelling and other supportive methods), so an open mind, creativity, and willingness to learn are essential.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
We would love to hear from you if you:
- Have experience as a Support Worker for children or young adults with severe learning disabilities/complex needs.
- Have the ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, and a strong commitment to person-centred support.
- Can learn and confidently use a Total Communication approach
- Are warm, cheerful, and naturally nurturing
- Have a genuine passion for supporting children or young people with complex needs
- Are energetic, compassionate, and reliable
- Enjoy playful, active and engaging work
- Can remain calm, consistent and positive in all situations
- Can bring warmth, structure, and positivity into her daily routine
- NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (training can be provided if not yet achieved).
Experience with learning disabilities, deafness, or non‑verbal communication is helpful— but the right personality and attitude are far more important, and full guidance can be provided.
