Bank Maintenance Person – Care Home

Working Pattern
- Flexible bank shifts to cover annual leave, sickness and additional maintenance requirements.
- Occasional weekend work may be required.
About the Role
Falcon House Care Home is looking for a reliable, skilled and proactive Bank Maintenance Person to support the upkeep of our care home. You will help ensure that the building, grounds and equipment remain safe, clean and well maintained, creating a comfortable environment for our residents, visitors and staff.
You will work alongside our existing Maintenance Person, who will guide and support you in understanding the day-to-day maintenance requirements of the home.
The successful candidate will carry out a variety of maintenance tasks, respond promptly to repairs and work closely with the Home Manager to ensure the home remains safe, compliant and well maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general maintenance, repairs and decorating throughout the care home.
- Complete routine inspections of the building, grounds and equipment.
- Perform basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting repairs where competent to do so.
- Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and to a high standard.
- Maintain the gardens, pathways, fencing and external areas of the home.
- Conduct routine health and safety checks, including fire safety equipment, emergency lighting and water temperature monitoring where required.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and management.
- Liaise with external contractors and assist in supervising work carried out on site.
- Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and stored safely.
- Keep accurate maintenance records and report any significant repairs or safety concerns.
- Assist with moving furniture, setting up rooms and supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the home.
- Help maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment for residents, visitors and staff.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, handyman or building maintenance role.
- Good practical skills across a range of maintenance tasks.
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workload.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, trustworthy and flexible.
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check if not already held (company funded).
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience working within a care home, healthcare or residential setting.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, carpentry and decorating.
- Health & Safety qualification.
- PAT Testing qualification (preferred)
- Fire Safety awareness training.
- Full UK driving licence.

Driving & Location
Due to our rural location, applicants who hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own transport are preferred, as public transport options are limited.
