About Us
At Stomping Grounds North East we believe children thrive when they are given the
freedom, time and support to learn through play, exploration and connection with nature.
Our Forest Kindergarten at Gibside provides a unique early years experience where
children spend their days outdoors, building confidence, resilience, curiosity and a
lifelong relationship with the natural world.
We are a values-led organisation committed to child-led learning, inclusion, nurturing
relationships and high-quality outdoor education. We are looking for someone who
shares those values and wants to play a key role in shaping the future of our Forest
Kindergarten.
Why Join Us
This is an opportunity to be part of something meaningful with lasting impact on society
and nature.
You’ll be working directly with children and young people to create real change -
supporting them to build confidence, develop skills and feel a stronger sense of
belonging.
We are committed to being an inclusive and supportive employer that reflects the
communities we serve. We actively encourage applications from individuals of all
backgrounds, particularly those who are under-represented in the outdoor and
environmental sector, and we aim to create a working environment where everyone can
thrive.
Purpose of the role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Early Years practitioner who is ready to
take the next step in their leadership journey.

The role combines leadership and operational responsibilities with direct work alongside

Kindergarten and half supporting the management, development and continuous
improvement of the setting.
You will play a key role in supporting and developing the staff team, embedding our
child-led and nature-based pedagogy, building strong relationships with families, and
helping to shape the future direction of the Kindergarten.
