Specialty Doctor – Addiction Psychiatry

Seven Resourcing is recruiting a Specialty Doctor to join a specialist substance misuse service in Hull. This is a senior clinical role within a multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality, evidence-based care for individuals experiencing addiction and complex mental health needs.
The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership within the service, supporting prescribing, assessments, care planning, and ongoing treatment for service users with a range of substance dependencies.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments of patients with substance misuse and co-occurring mental health needs.
- Diagnose, assess, and develop individualised treatment and care plans.
- Prescribe and manage treatment for opiate, alcohol, stimulant, and other substance dependencies in line with clinical guidelines.
- Monitor treatment progress, including review of laboratory results and clinical outcomes.
- Provide specialist prescribing advice and clinical oversight to the multidisciplinary team.
- Support safe induction and titration onto treatment regimes.
- Contribute to BBV screening, vaccination programmes, and wider health promotion activity.
- Deliver harm reduction advice, overdose prevention education, and recovery-focused interventions.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and integrated care planning.
- Liaise with external agencies including GPs, mental health services, social care, and voluntary sector providers.
- Provide clinical supervision and guidance to junior staff and Non-Medical Prescribers.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical records and ensure compliance with governance standards.
- Participate in clinical audit, service evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support training, education, and development of clinical colleagues.
- Contribute to safeguarding processes and risk management planning.
- Engage in service development, research activity, and implementation of best practice.
Requirements
- Medical Degree with full GMC registration and licence to practise.
- Completion of core/basic medical training.
- MRCPsych (or equivalent) desirable.
- Section 12 approval desirable.
- Experience working in substance misuse services or addiction psychiatry.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of clinical prescribing within addiction treatment.
- Knowledge of mental health legislation and safeguarding frameworks.
- Experience delivering evidence-based clinical interventions.
- Strong communication, assessment, and care planning skills.
- Ability to manage complex clinical caseloads independently.
- Commitment to recovery-focused and non-judgemental practice.
