Step Into Teaching is partnering with a fantastic Further Education College in Bishop Auckland that is seeking an Graduate Academic Coach to join their Engineering department. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineering graduate or experienced engineering professional who is passionate about supporting young people and helping students succeed in their studies.
Working closely with the Engineering team, you will support students with the academic aspects of their engineering qualifications, helping to build their confidence, understanding, and achievement within the classroom. This role would suit somebody with a genuine enthusiasm for engineering, excellent communication skills, and an interest in education.
The Engineering Academic Support Tutor opportunity:
- Engineering Graduate Academic Coach
- Further Education College in Bishop Auckland
- £500 - £530 per week (term time only)
- Full-time Monday – Friday
- Opportunity to gain valuable experience within Further Education
- Ideal for aspiring teachers, lecturers, or engineering professionals looking to move into education
- Start September 2026 – July 2027
The successful Engineering Academic Support Tutor must:
- Hold an Engineering degree or related qualification (2:2 or above)
- Have a strong academic understanding of engineering principles and concepts
- Be confident supporting students with their learning and academic development
- Have excellent communication and presentation skills
- Be comfortable speaking in front of groups and engaging learners in the classroom
- Be personable, approachable, and able to build positive relationships with students and staff
- Demonstrate a genuine passion for engineering and education
- Be enthusiastic, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a team
- Hold outstanding interpersonal and organisational skills
- Have an inspirational and reflective mindset within the learning environment
- Demonstrate a commitment to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults
