Job Summary
We are seeking a Part-time / Self-Employed HGV Mobile Mechanic to provide expert maintenance and repair services for heavy goods vehicles at our yard. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical skills, electrical knowledge, and experience working with a range of equipment. This role offers flexibility for self-employment and the opportunity to work independently on a diverse fleet of vehicles. The successful applicant will be responsible for diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and ensuring vehicles are maintained to the highest standards to minimise downtime.
Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HGVs and associated equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults using schematics and diagnostic tools.
- Carry out repairs including welding, fabrication, soldering, and assembly of vehicle components.
- Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to repair or replace faulty parts.
- Perform equipment repair tasks such as fixing excavators, forklifts, and other machinery used in logistics operations.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts utilised.
- Ensure all repairs meet safety standards and comply with industry regulations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in mechanical repair, ideally within the heavy vehicle or plant machinery sector.
- Strong electrical experience with the ability to interpret schematics.
- Skills in fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly are highly desirable.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Knowledge of maintenance procedures for excavators, forklifts, and other heavy machinery.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

Pay: £26,123.10-£53,212.49 per year
