We are seeking an experienced and reliable Grounds person to join our dedicated team, maintaining the beautiful and tranquil grounds of our crematorium and natural burial park. This is an important role that helps provide a peaceful, respectful environment for families and visitors throughout the year.
About the Role
As a grounds person, you will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and presentation of the crematorium grounds, ensuring they are maintained to the highest standards. The role includes a variety of horticultural and grounds maintenance duties, the preparation of burial plots with seasonal variations in working hours and occasional off-site work at other locations.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain lawns, flower beds, shrubs, trees, and landscaped areas.
Carry out planting, pruning, hedge cutting, and general horticultural work.
Preparation and maintenance of Burial plots.
Apply pesticides and herbicides safely and in accordance with regulations.
Operate and maintain grounds maintenance equipment and machinery.
Ensure all areas remain clean, tidy, safe, and welcoming.
Assist with seasonal grounds maintenance tasks, including leaf clearance and winter preparation.
Undertake occasional off-site grounds maintenance work as required.
Work with respect and professionalism within the sensitive environment of a crematorium.
Essential Requirements
Minimum of 3 years' experience in grounds maintenance or horticulture.
PA1 and PA6 qualifications (or equivalent pesticide application certification).
Good working knowledge of plants, shrubs, and trees, including their care and maintenance.
Experience using a range of grounds maintenance equipment and machinery.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Full UK driving licence (preferred if off-site working is required).
