Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Activities Director to organise engaging programmes and activities within a care home specialising in assisted living and senior care. The successful candidate will play a vital role in enhancing residents' quality of life by creating stimulating social, recreational, and therapeutic activities tailored to individual needs. Experience in nursing home environments, dementia care, or Alzheimer's care is highly desirable. Responsibilities
- Develop, plan, and implement a diverse programme of activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and physical wellbeing for residents.
- Personalise activities to cater to individual interests, abilities, and care requirements, including specialised dementia and Alzheimer's care programmes.
- Foster an inclusive environment that encourages participation from all residents, respecting their preferences and cultural backgrounds.
- Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities complement residents’ care plans and health needs.
- Organise special events, outings, and celebrations to enhance community engagement within the care home.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to continually improve activity offerings.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote awareness of upcoming activities and gather input for programme development.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in assisted living or nursing home settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of senior care practices, including dementia and Alzheimer's care techniques.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage residents compassionately and effectively.
- Experience in caregiving or organising therapeutic activities for older adults is advantageous.
- Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to plan and execute engaging programmes independently.
- A caring attitude with genuine enthusiasm for improving the lives of elderly residents.
- Relevant qualifications or training in activity coordination, senior care, or related fields are desirable but not essential.
