About the Role
Parkland Services is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Business Manager to take full responsibility for managing and growing our established Vehicle Rental & Leasing division.
This is a varied, hands-on role that combines business development, account management and day-to-day operational management. We're looking for someone who can not only oversee the day-to-day running of the business but also actively generate new business, increase sales and build long-term customer relationships.
You'll have the autonomy to grow the department while being supported by our established dealership, workshop and administration teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the vehicle rental and leasing department.
- Proactively generate new business through networking, prospecting, referrals and lead generation.
- Chase enquiries and convert leads into long-term customers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate and retail customers.
- Develop new business opportunities and increase fleet utilisation.
- Manage customer accounts and maintain excellent customer service throughout the rental and leasing process.
- Oversee customer payments, invoicing, outstanding balances and supplier payments.
- Order new vehicles and manage the growth and replacement of the fleet.
- Liaise with manufacturers, suppliers and finance partners.
- Manage vehicle insurance policies, renewals and claims.
- Handle accident claims, damage disputes and insurance administration.
- Coordinate vehicle breakdowns, recoveries and repairs, ensuring customers are kept mobile.
- Manage penalty charge notices (PCNs), speeding fines, congestion charges and parking tickets.
- Ensure vehicles remain compliant with servicing, MOTs, inspections and maintenance schedules.
- Work closely with our workshop to minimise vehicle downtime.
- Monitor fleet availability and maximise profitability.
- Produce reports, forecasts and identify opportunities for continued business growth.
- Ensure all documentation, compliance and operational procedures are maintained to a high standard.
About You
We're looking for someone with proven experience in the vehicle rental, leasing or fleet management industry who is motivated by achieving results.
Essential
- Previous experience managing a vehicle rental, leasing or fleet operation.
- Proven track record of winning new business and increasing sales.
- Strong business development and account management skills.
- Experience handling customer accounts, payments and operational administration.
- Knowledge of fleet insurance, accident management and claims handling.
- Experience managing vehicle ordering and fleet operations.
- Commercially minded with excellent negotiation skills.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident communicator with excellent customer service skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Highly Desirable
- Existing portfolio of clients or strong industry contacts.
- Experience working with business fleets and corporate customers.
- Knowledge of rental or fleet management software.
- Experience managing a growing department or team.

The Ideal Candidate
This role would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of a business, is commercially minded and isn't afraid to pick up the phone and win new customers. Ideally, you'll already have an established network of contacts or an existing client base that you can develop further.
You'll be equally comfortable bringing in new business as you are managing the operational side of the department, ensuring payments, insurance, claims, breakdowns and fleet administration are all running smoothly.
