As a Kitchen Assistant, you will help support the smooth day to day running of our busy restaurant kitchen.
This is a varied and practical role involving food preparation, cleaning, washing up, stock management and supporting the wider restaurant team. You may also be asked to assist in customer facing areas, including the counter and front of house.
You will help us maintain excellent standards of food quality, presentation, customer service and hygiene throughout every shift.
Your main responsibilities
- Preparing hot and cold food to Hollybush standards
- Assisting the cooks with food preparation and cooking
- Serving hot and cold food when required
- Clearing, cleaning and sanitising food preparation areas
- Washing and correctly storing cooking equipment, utensils, dishes and chopping boards
- Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and well stocked
- Receiving deliveries and storing food safely
- Checking and recording delivery temperatures
- Rotating stock and checking use by dates
- Completing temperature checks and probe calibrations
- Following HACCP, food hygiene and allergen procedures
- Completing all required food safety records and due diligence paperwork accurately
- Following COSHH and Health and Safety procedures
- Developing a full working knowledge of our menu, food, drinks and allergens
- Supporting front of house and counter service when required
- Responding positively and helpfully to reasonable customer requests
- Reporting operational, hygiene or Health and Safety concerns to the Restaurant Management team
- Working closely with colleagues to provide a welcoming and efficient service
- Undertaking any relevant training required for the role

Experience and qualifications
Previous kitchen, hospitality or customer service experience would be helpful, but it is not essential for the right person.
The following would be advantageous:
- Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification
- Allergen awareness training
- Experience within a busy restaurant or quick service kitchen
- Experience working in a customer facing role
Full training will be provided where required.
Hours
Full time and part time contracts are available, with hours of up to 40 hours per week.
Applicants must be available to work a flexible rota that includes weekends and Bank Holidays.
Pay
National Minimum Wage, according to age and current statutory rates.
