Job Title: Quality Inspector
Shifts Available:
- Day Shift (Monday to Friday)
- Night Shift (Monday to Friday)
- Day Shift - Mon – Thursday 7:30am - 4:30pm, Friday 7:30am – 12:15pm
- Night Shift - Mon - Wed 6 pm – 6am, Thursday 6pm – 10:15pm (Thursday nights shift may work till 6am)
- Reporting To: Quality Manager
Role Overview
We are seeking experienced and motivated Quality Inspector to join our engineering team on both day and night shifts. The successful candidates will be responsible for inspecting precision-machined components and ensuring products meet customer specifications, engineering drawings, and company quality standards.
Applicants should have a background in engineering or manufacturing and be fully familiar with the use of a wide range of inspection and measurement equipment. Training will be provided on company-specific processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform first-off, in-process, and final inspection of machined components.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and quality documentation.
- Verify component dimensions, tolerances, and finishes against customer requirements.
- Use a variety of inspection and measuring equipment to ensure product conformity.
- Complete inspection reports and maintain accurate quality records.
- Identify non-conforming products and support root cause investigations.
- Work closely with production personnel to resolve quality issues.
- Ensure compliance with company quality procedures and customer requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the quality department.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in an engineering or precision manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and geometric tolerances.
- Experience inspecting precision-machined components.
- Competent in the use of inspection equipment, including:
- Vernier calipers
- Micrometers
- Height gauges
- Bore gauges
- Thread gauges
- Plug gauges
- Slip gauges
- Surface finish measuring equipment
- Shadowgraph / Profile Projector
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Skills
- Experience using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems.
- Experience within aerospace, automotive, oil & gas, defence, or precision engineering sectors.
- Understanding of SPC (Statistical Process Control).
- Experience with FAIRs (First Article Inspection Reports).
Training Provided
The successful candidate will receive training in:
- Company quality procedures and standards.
- Product-specific inspection requirements.
- Internal quality management systems.
- Customer-specific requirements where applicable.
- CMM operation and programming (where required).
- First Article Inspection Reporting (FAIR).
- Non-conformance reporting and corrective action processes.
- Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.
- Continuous improvement and lean manufacturing methodologies.

Pay: £17.00-£19.00 per hour
