Chef de Partie – The Piglet at Ye Olde Whyte Lyon
We’re busy and need more chefs for our brigade.
We have recently opened The Piglet - an upmarket top end gastro pub with a fantastic garden and have been pleasantly surprised by how busy we are.
Our approach is simple — seasonal, ingredient-led cooking, with whole animal butchery, open fire, and everything made in-house. We work closely with our own farm in Marden and a small group of trusted, high-quality suppliers.
This is a kitchen built on standards, respect for produce, and attention to detail — but just as importantly, it’s a positive, driven environment where people enjoy coming to work. We’re looking for chefs who care about what they do and want to keep improving.
The Role
As a Chef de Partie, you’ll take ownership of a section and play a key role in upholding consistently high standards across the kitchen.
You will:
- Run and maintain your section to a high standard
- Work closely with the senior team on prep, service and menu development
- Contribute ideas and creativity to dishes
- Maintain strong organisation and time management during busy services
- Support health & safety and food hygiene standards
- Work as part of a tight, supportive team
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a CDP or strong Commis ready to step up
- A genuine interest in seasonal, produce-led cooking
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Strong attention to detail and pride in your work
- Ability to perform under pressure in a busy kitchen
- A team player who can also work independently
What We Offer
- 45 hour week with paid overtime
- Hourly rate between £14.95- £15.81 (salary&tronc)
- Real development and training opportunities
- The chance to work with excellent produce and suppliers
- A kitchen you can be proud of, with high standards and proper systems
- Staff meals on shift
- Farm visits and supplier trips
Why Join Us
This is an opportunity to be part of a new opening — to help shape the culture, the food, and the standards.
We take food seriously, but not ourselves. If you want to cook properly, learn, and be part of a team that respects each other and the product, you’ll fit in well here.
