Part-Time Hardware Shop Assistant
Part-time | 3 days per week | Some Saturdays required
We are looking for a friendly, reliable and experienced Hardware Shop Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis, working 3 days per week, including some Saturdays.
Previous experience working in a DIY, hardware or builders’ merchant environment is essential, as you will need to be comfortable advising customers and discussing a range of tools, hardware, fixings and DIY products.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Serving customers and providing helpful, knowledgeable advice
- Assisting customers in finding the right products for their projects
- Operating the till and handling payments
- Replenishing stock and maintaining an organised, tidy shop
- Receiving deliveries and checking stock
- Answering customer enquiries in person and by telephone
- Helping with general day-to-day shop duties
- Handling and moving heavy items
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience in a DIY, hardware or similar environment — essential
- Has good knowledge of hardware, tools and DIY products
- Has at least 1 year of retail experience — desirable
- Is friendly, approachable and confident dealing with customers
- Is accurate and pays close attention to detail, particularly when handling stock, orders and payments
- Is physically able to lift and move heavy items, including 25kg bags of salt
- Is reliable, practical and well organised
- Can work independently as well as part of a small team
- Is flexible and able to work some Saturdays

Hours: Part-time, 3 days per week
Saturday working: Some Saturdays required

Pay: £17,813.25 per year
