Job Description Summary
Lloyds Banking Group's strategy is to Grow, Focus and Change to help Britain prosper. The Chief Security Office (CSO) provides security services that protect customer data, enable secure access to systems and services, and ensure regulatory compliance across the Group.
The Cryptography Lab is evolving how security services are engineered, operated and consumed. This role plays a central part in crafting a modern approach focused on collaboration and automation within the Secrets Management team. It emphasises automation, shift-left security practices, and improving how secure secrets are delivered and consumed across the engineering community.
We are looking for a senior technical specialist who improves existing platforms and processes while helping shape the technical culture, engineering standards and ways of working within the team.

JOB TITLE: Senior Technical Application Specialist – Secrets Management
SALARY: £72,702-£88,858
LOCATION(S): Leeds, Manchester, Edinburgh, Bristol
HOURS: Full-time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites
About this opportunity
We're looking for a Senior Technical Application Specialist to take ownership of Secrets management and cryptography services, with a focus on platform engineering and DevOps practices.
The role is centred on the need for building and operating secure, scalable and automated services that are easy for engineering teams to consume.
Participate within the Secrets Management feature team, working in close coordination with product, engineering, platform, and application teams to embed cryptography seamlessly into modern delivery pipelines and architectures.
What you’ll be doing:
- Design, build and operate enterprise Secrets Management services.
- Develop self-service capabilities that enable secure management and consumption of secrets.
- Implement automation using CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code.
- Design and support integration patterns for applications consuming Secrets Management services.
- Enable adoption through automation, APIs and standard integration patterns.
- Contribute to service protection, incident response, problem management and continuous improvement.

What we’re looking for:
- Hands-on experience with HashiCorp Vault or comparable Secrets Management technologies.
- Strong understanding of secrets lifecycle management, including creation, rotation, revocation and governance.
- Experience designing and operating security-critical enterprise platforms.
- Strong automation skills using CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
And any of these would be great:
- Kubernetes and cloud-native platforms.
- Monitoring, observability and service reliability practices.
- Internal developer platforms and self-service onboarding.
