Overview
We are seeking a friendly and motivated Deli and Retail Assistant to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about food service and retail, providing a dynamic environment where customer satisfaction is paramount. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional service, assisting with food preparation, and maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of the store. Previous experience in a similar setting is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. A knowledge of interest in Spanish food is a benefit but not essential.
Pay will be £12.71 per hour + a share of service charge. On average this is anywhere between £2.50 to £6 an hour extra
Once fully trained, hours will be around 20 per week, up to around 30 depending on trade/holidays ect
There is also the possibility of promotion to retail and deli assistant manager in the future.
Duties
- Prepare and serve a variety of deli foods, including sandwiches, salads, and cold dishes ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene.
- Assist customers with their selections, answer queries, and provide excellent customer service to enhance their shopping experience.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the deli counter and retail area, including restocking shelves and ensuring products are presented attractively.
- Operate epos till system, handle transactions accurately, and upsell products to maximise sales opportunities.
- Follow food safety regulations at all times, including proper storage, handling, and labelling of food items.
- Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure prompt service without compromising quality.
- Support the team with general store duties as required, including stock rotation and inventory checks.
- In time and with full training, helping with our warehouse and online shop.
Experience
- Previous experience in food preparation or restaurant service is desirable but not essential; full training will be provided for suitable candidates.
- Familiarity with food safety standards and procedures is advantageous.
- Experience in kitchen environments or retail can be beneficial.
- Strong organisational skills and time management are essential to prioritise tasks efficiently during busy periods.
