Assistant Bar Manager — Traditional Pub

About the Role
As Assistant Bar Manager, you’ll take charge of the day‑to‑day running of the pub, ensuring exceptional service, consistent beer quality, and a friendly, familiar atmosphere. You’ll be the face of the venue — visible, approachable, and committed to maintaining the charm and heritage that regulars love.
Key Responsibilities
- Pub Operations — Oversee daily running of the bar, cellar, and front‑of‑house.
- Cellar Management — Maintain top‑quality cask and keg beer through proper cellar care and line cleaning.
- Community Engagement — Build relationships with regulars and support local events.
- Staff Leadership — Recruit, train, and motivate a strong bar team.
- Customer Service — Deliver warm, attentive service every time.
- Stock & Ordering — Manage stock levels, supplier orders, and deliveries.
- Financial Oversight — Monitor sales, budgets, and cost control.
- Events & Promotions — Support traditional pub events such as quiz nights, live music, and seasonal celebrations.
What We’re Looking For
- Pub Experience — 2–3 years in a supervisory role within a pub or bar.
- Cellar Skills — Strong knowledge of cask ale and cellar hygiene.
- Leadership — Confident, positive team management.
- Customer Service — Friendly, professional communication.
- Organisation — Ability to juggle tasks in a busy environment.
- Licensing Knowledge — Understanding of UK licensing laws.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Personal Licence Holder
- Experience with traditional cask ale
- EPOS system familiarity
- Event planning experience
Evenings, weekends, and bank holidays required. You’ll be a visible, hands‑on presence during peak times and community events.
£30,000–£35,000 depending on experience .
