Join a Leading UK Manufacturer
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Production Labourer / Manufacturing Support Operative to join our growing manufacturing team at our Oldham facility. As one of the UK's leading manufacturers of fire sprinkler pipework, we supply critical life-safety products to customers across the UK.
This is a vital support role within our production operation, ensuring manufacturing lines remain fully supplied, organised, and operating efficiently. Working closely with machine operators, welders, and production supervisors, you will play an important part in maintaining productivity, quality, and housekeeping standards across the workshop.
The successful candidate will be physically fit, safety-conscious, and committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and operational support within a busy manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production Support
· Supply production lines with pipes, fittings, consumables, and materials to ensure uninterrupted production.
· Load and unload materials safely and efficiently throughout the workshop.
· Assist machine operators by preparing workstations and ensuring all required materials are available.
· Remove completed products and transport them safely to the next stage of production.
· Support production teams during busy periods to maximise efficiency and output.
· Monitor stock levels at workstations and replenish materials as required.
· Assist with the movement of raw materials and finished goods using approved manual handling techniques or lifting equipment where authorised.
Housekeeping & 5S Standards
· Maintain excellent housekeeping standards across all production areas.
· Carry out daily cleaning duties to ensure workstations remain clean, organised, and free from hazards.
· Complete scheduled deep cleaning of machinery, production areas, and equipment.
· Support the implementation and maintenance of 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardise and Sustain).
· Ensure waste materials are segregated and disposed of correctly.
· Keep walkways, storage areas, and emergency exits clear at all times.
· Promote a clean, safe, and efficient working environment.
Equipment & Safety
· Carry out daily pre-start and pre-shift equipment inspections.
· Report damaged equipment, tooling, or safety concerns immediately.
· Assist with basic equipment care and preventative maintenance activities.
· Follow all company health and safety procedures and wear the appropriate PPE at all times.
· Ensure safe manual handling practices are followed throughout the workshop.
· Support risk reduction by identifying potential hazards and reporting unsafe conditions.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
· Assist in maintaining production quality by ensuring components are handled correctly and protected from damage.
· Support production teams in meeting daily output targets.
· Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that improve workplace organisation, efficiency, and productivity.
· Follow company procedures and manufacturing standards at all times.
About You
Essential
· Previous experience working within a manufacturing, engineering, warehouse, or production environment.
· Physically fit and capable of manual handling throughout the working day.
· Good understanding of workplace health and safety.
· Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
· Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards.
· Good communication skills.
· Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and support colleagues.
Desirable
· Experience supporting manufacturing or production lines.
· Knowledge of 5S or Lean Manufacturing principles.
· Experience using pallet trucks or other material handling equipment.
· Experience within pipework, fabrication, engineering, or heavy manufacturing environments.
· Basic understanding of production processes and quality standards.

Experience
