Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Stores Person to manage inventory and facilitate efficient warehouse operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling materials using a FLT, therefore a valid forklift licence, maintaining stock levels, and ensuring smooth shipping and receiving processes. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with warehouse experience and mechanical knowledge to contribute to a well-organised storage environment.
Duties
- Operate forklift and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently
- Manage stock levels using Warehouse Management System (WMS) and AS400 systems
- Handle materials, including loading, unloading, picking, and packing items
- Maintain accurate records of inventory movements and stock levels
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities to ensure timely dispatch and receipt of goods
- Conduct regular stock checks and organise storage areas for optimal accessibility
- Support mechanical tasks related to warehouse equipment maintenance
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during all warehouse activities
- Collaborate with team members to optimise warehouse workflow and productivity
Requirements
- Proven experience in warehouse management or similar roles
- Valid forklift licence or certification essential
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management System (WMS) and AS400 is advantageous
- Strong materials handling skills, including heavy lifting and manual dexterity
- Mechanical knowledge or experience in construction environments is a plus
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Physical fitness to handle demanding tasks involving lifting and moving heavy items
- Previous experience in shipping & receiving, stocking, or logistics is desirable
