£50,000 – £65,000
A highly regarded and expanding law firm is seeking a Family Care Solicitor to join its established Family Department based in either Bedford or Northampton.
This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated Family Care Solicitor to join a supportive and well-respected team handling a broad range of publicly funded children matters. The firm is recognised for its commitment to client care and for providing high-quality legal services to vulnerable individuals and families.
The Role
You will manage your own caseload of family care matters whilst working alongside experienced colleagues within a busy and successful department.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a caseload of public law children matters from inception through to conclusion
- Representing parents, grandparents and other family members in care proceedings
- Advising clients on matters involving local authority intervention and child protection concerns
- Preparing legal documentation, statements and court applications
- Conducting advocacy where appropriate and instructing counsel when required
- Attending court hearings, client meetings and professional conferences
- Liaising with local authorities, guardians, experts, barristers and other professionals
- Ensuring compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements and regulatory obligations
- Delivering exceptional client care during sensitive and often complex proceedings
- Supporting business development initiatives and maintaining strong referral relationships
The Candidate
- Qualified Solicitor with experience in Family Care and Public Law Children work
- Ability to manage a caseload independently
- Experience handling care proceedings and related family matters
- Children Panel Accreditation is desirable but not essential
- Excellent advocacy, communication and client care skills
- Strong organisational and case management abilities
- Compassionate and professional approach when dealing with vulnerable clients
