We are looking for a motivated and passionate individual to join our team at Thorpe House. Thorpe House is a specialist adult mental health unit which provides 24 hour care.
The role of cook's assistant at Thorpe House includes supporting the cook in planning, preparing, cooking and serving meals for all of our residents. Candidates will also be responsible for keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy and completing various kitchen duties. Some residents may have special dietary and healthcare needs and therefore a knowledge of this would be preferable but is not required, but a willingness to learn is essential.
Working Hours (09:00 - 18:00) rotating between two weeks:
- Week 1 - Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday
- Week 2 - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
We are seeking somebody who has good organisation and communication skills and who is able to work well as part of the team.
Offer of employment is subject to a satisfactory DBS check.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook fresh, high-quality meals for residents and staff
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
- Manage food stock, ordering, and waste efficiently
- Work collaboratively with care staff to accommodate residents’ needs and preferences, such as assisting with menu planning
- Follow all food safety and health and safety guidelines
- Support the chef and other members of the kitchen team
