Due to exciting growth in our grounds maintenance division we are now seeking another Grounds maintenance Contract Manager to join our team.
You may already be a Contract Manager or Team Leader/Supervisor looking to make the next step in your career and have the energy, drive and commitment to progress rapidly and be part of this dynamic department.
You will be responsible for managing your own portfolio of grounds maintenance contracts in East Anglia including schools, housing developments and carrying out the defect period maintenance on landscape project installations.
You will bring proven experience managing service delivery across multiple sites, along with a strong track record of effective problem-solving. You are a calm, practical thinker who prioritises tasks efficiently, remains composed under pressure, and takes pride in building trusted, long-term client relationships.
With strong commercial awareness, you are able to balance quality, efficiency, and value-added opportunities, while maintaining a genuine sense of ownership and accountability for your contracts.
ROLE:
To manage:
- mobile maintenance schedules
- ad hoc maintenance requirements on project sites
- defect period maintenance schedules
- customer care issues
Key Responsibilities:
- Build strong client relationships: Development of trusted client relationships
- Lead teams: Line management of grounds maintenance employees/teams; setting clear expectations and ensuring accountability
- Plan and organise work schedules: devise efficient travel routes, schedules and work flows to ensure SLAs are met and Health and Safety is never compromised
- Audit sites: Regular site visits to ensure work is being carried out to a high standard and safe methods of working are being adhered to; creating site audit reports and problem-solving arising issues.
- Add value: proactively drive efficiencies and ensure opportunities for added client value are maximised
- Problem solve: ensure prompt attention to arising issues and addressing with confidence and maximising customer satisfaction
Additionally:
- Develop wider reach and actively seek out new contracts within the daily scope of your client relationships and beyond
- Reporting back to the Management team on a regular basis and collaborating with other managers to share resources
- Assisting in recruitment and training staff including interviewing and inducting new staff
- Project managing small to medium works including preparing RAMS and managing Health & Safety requirements
- Preparing specifications, schedules of works, tender documentation and pricing for additional works for approval by Directors
Initially, in order to gain site knowledge, you will join the maintenance teams and carry out the maintenance on all of the sites you will be responsible for so that you fully understand what is required of the team working on site. You will also be responsible for maintaining full records of all contract details on the Company Sharepoint and liaising with the finance department to ensure full, timely and correct invoicing is acheived.
Teamwork and collaboration are key components of GLM Company ethos and it is expected that all managers assist the wider team where required including, but not limited to:
- Helping dispatch teams from the yard in the morning
- Assisting with vehicle and machinery repairs and movement
- Troubleshooting
You will be provided with a Company vehicle and fuel card, laptop and mobile phone. Approximate working hours will be 06:45 to 16:45, Monday to Friday. Some days you will travel direct to site and others will be spent at our office in Bury St Edmunds, or other branch offices within East Anglia.
Essential:
- Full, clean driving license
- Experience in grounds maintenance and/or landscaping, either as a Team Leader, Supervisor, and/or Contract Manager
- Good communication skills
- Be computer literate with experience of Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)

- Basic machinery/vehicle familiarity of use and repair

Salary:
£32,000 - £35,000 starting rate dependent on experience. Salary will be discussed at interview.
