About Us
The Militaria Shop is a family-run online retailer specialising in military collectables and surplus equipment. We sell thousands of historic items every year through our own website and online marketplaces, serving collectors across the UK and around the world.
As our business continues to grow, we're looking for someone creative, organised and enthusiastic to join our small team. The office is not open to the public so the role is not customer facing.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with an interest in social media, photography or digital marketing who wants genuine hands-on experience. For the right candidate, there may also be the opportunity to complete a Digital Marketing or Digital Content apprenticeship, gaining a recognised qualification alongside the role.
The Role
No two days are quite the same, but your main focus will be creating engaging content for our social media channels and helping present our products in the best possible way.
Your responsibilities will include:
Social Media & Digital Content
- Photographing new stock for our website and social media
- Creating engaging content for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube
- Assisting with short-form video creation and editing
- Helping plan and schedule social media posts
- Supporting the growth of our online presence through creative content ideas
Product Photography
- Taking clear, consistent photographs of military collectables and surplus stock
- Preparing items for photography
- Learning our photography workflow (full training provided)
Stock & Operations
- Organising and preparing stock ready for listing
- Assisting with general stock handling and organisation
- Helping maintain an efficient working environment
Customer & Office Support
- Replying to customer enquiries via email and online messaging
- Answering the telephone when required
- General administrative duties
- Ordering office supplies when needed
Dispatch Support
- Helping wrap and prepare customer orders during busy periods
- Booking collections through our online courier systems
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is:
- Creative and enthusiastic
- Experienced in social media and digital marketing (or is willing to undertake an apprenticeship in the subject)
- Interested in history and/or military collectibles (not a must but a definite bonus)
- Organised with excellent attention to detail
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable using computers and learning new software
- Confident communicating in written English
- Happy working as part of a small team
- Willing to get involved with a variety of tasks
Experience with MacOS, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Premiere or similar software would be an advantage, but we're much more interested in attitude and willingness to learn.
Working Hours
Our office hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm but there is some flexibility around start and finish times.
We're looking for someone to work 37.5 hours per week but would consider part time of at least 20 hours across Monday, Wednesday and Thursday for the right applicant.
Term-time only working, or school hours will also be considered, making the role suitable for parents returning to work.
Apprenticeship Opportunity
For candidates looking to develop a career in digital media, there may be the opportunity to complete a recognised Digital Marketing or Digital Content apprenticeship alongside the role, allowing you to gain industry experience while working towards a nationally recognised qualification.

- Personal creative work
- Which social media platforms are you most familiar with? (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X (Twitter) or any others). Please tell us how you use these platforms (personally or professionally).

Are you happy working in a varied role?

- Why would you like to work for The Militaria Shop?
- Why do you think you'd be a good fit for this position?
- Tell us about any experience you have creating content. This could include social media, photography, video editing, graphic design, blogging, websites or any personal projects. Professional experience isn't essential—we'd love to hear about hobbies and side projects too.
