Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced individual to join our team as a Van Driver. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating commercial vehicles, to deliver goods efficiently and safely. This role requires excellent driving skills, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members. This is a physically demanding role, with the requirement of moving heavy pallets using a pump truck, and hand balling items on and off the van.
This is a Monday to Friday job with a possible 2-3 nights out per week.
There is a rota in place for occasional weekend work, which increases during peak months (summer and winter) to match the requirements of our customers.
This is NOT a multi-drop role. You will be responsible for small general haulage jobs (2-3 runs per day).
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a commercial vehicle to transport goods and materials.
- This is a physically demanding role, loading and unloading cargo using pump trucks and hand balling method.
- Plan routes and ensure timely delivery of goods.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members.
- Perform routine maintenance on the van and report any mechanical issues.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and pickups.
Essential experience, skills & qualifications:
- Clean valid Driving Licence.
- Proven experience as a commercial Delivery Driver - 1 year minimum.
- Experience driving a small wheelbase or Luton size van.
- Experience driving a XL wheelbase curtain sided van.
- Good knowledge of UK road networks and transport regulations.
- Strong time management and communication skills.
- A professional and customer-focused attitude.
