The role
As an Aircraft Ground Handler and Driver, you'll play a key role in supporting flight-line operations at RAF Cosford. This is a varied, hands-on position combining specialist driving responsibilities with aircraft ground handling duties, helping to ensure aircraft are prepared, serviced and ready to fly safely and efficiently.
Working as part of a dedicated operational team, you'll support flying activities through fuel vehicle operations, aircraft handling, ground support equipment checks and general airfield support tasks. Day-to-day, you will be:
Driving fuel bowsers and carrying out vehicle checks to support daily flying operations.
Assisting with the safe ground movement and handling of aircraft on the flight line.
Preparing aircraft for flying activities, including see-in, see-off, fuel and oil replenishment activities.
Conducting daily aircraft and ground support equipment inspections and basic authorised maintenance activities.
Supporting housekeeping, aircraft cleaning and wider operational tasks across the site.
This role is full time, based on site at RAF Cosford, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with occasional weekend working. Shift patterns and timings may change to support site operational requirements.
Essential experience of the Aircraft Ground Handler and Driver:
Experience driving large vehicles in a safety-critical environment.
Strong awareness of safety procedures and compliance requirements.
Ability to work effectively within a team supporting operational activities.
Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
Experience within aviation, military or engineering environments would be advantageous.
Qualifications for the Aircraft Ground Handler and Driver:
Clean driving licence.
Ability to meet the colour vision requirements for airside operations (CP2/CP3).
PSV, LGV and ADR qualifications
Experience handling aircraft within a military or civilian aviation environment (desirable)
Grob 115E Handling Course (desirable)
A Check qualification (desirable)
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
