Full Time Opportunities Available
This isn't your average support worker role.
At Step Forward Support, we don't simply provide care. We build lives.
We're looking for a team of exceptional people to support one young adult who is moving into his own supported living home following a long period within specialist services.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of something from day one. You'll help someone develop the skills, confidence and independence to build a life in the community whilst providing the consistency, structure and positive relationships needed to make that happen.
There will be challenges.
There will also be huge rewards.
We're looking for people who can see the person behind the behaviours.
About the role
The individual you'll be supporting has a diagnosis of Autism and ADHD alongside complex emotional and behavioural needs.
He enjoys being around people, has a great sense of humour, loves music and has a real passion for writing and producing his own rap and drill music. He hopes one day to use this as a positive way of encouraging younger people to make good life choices.
Building genuine relationships is incredibly important to him.
Like many people who have experienced significant challenges throughout their lives, there are occasions where he can become emotionally overwhelmed. During these times he may use verbal abuse, attempt to leave the service unexpectedly or require skilled support to help him regulate his emotions safely.
Whilst there has previously been physical aggression, this has significantly reduced and the focus of this package is to continue building on that progress through consistency, trust and positive support.
You'll be working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team to help him continue moving forward.
Who we're looking for
We're not necessarily looking for years of supported living experience.
We're looking for the right people.
People who stay calm under pressure.
People who don't take behaviour personally.
People who understand that behaviour is communication.
Ideally, you'll have experience in areas such as:
· Forensic Mental Health Services
· Secure Hospitals
· Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICU)
· Low or Medium Secure Services
· Learning Disability Services
· Autism Services
· Mental Health Rehabilitation
· Prison Healthcare
· Positive Behaviour Support
· Complex Community Support
An interest in music, production, songwriting or rap culture would be a genuine bonus, but absolutely isn't essential.
You'll need to be someone who:
· Builds trust through consistency.
· Can confidently manage challenging situations.
· Has excellent communication skills.
· Can set clear professional boundaries.
· Is emotionally resilient.
· Can work as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team.
· Wants to make a genuine difference in someone's life.
· Believes that recovery and independence are possible.
What you'll receive
· £21.00 per hour
· Ongoing specialist training.
· Clinical and management support.
· Regular supervision.
· Career development opportunities.
· The opportunity to be part of a bespoke package from the very beginning.
· The chance to genuinely change someone's future.
