In this energetic and rewarding position, you will assist with boarding and disembarking students, provide support to ensure their safety during transit, and foster a friendly environment that promotes well-being. You must hold an ENHANCED DBS for this role, as you are working with vulnerable children.
Responsibilities
- Assist students with boarding and exiting the minibus safely and efficiently
- Ensure students are seated properly and remain seated during transit to promote safety
- Monitor student behaviour during journeys, providing gentle guidance and support as needed
- Communicate effectively with drivers, school staff, and parents regarding student needs or concerns
- Support students with special needs or mobility challenges, ensuring their comfort and safety
- Conduct routine checks of the vehicle’s interior before and after trips to maintain cleanliness and safety standards
- Follow all safety protocols, including emergency procedures, to ensure a secure environment for all passengers
Skills
- Prior experience assisting in educational, childcare, or assisted living settings is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of child safety, behavior management, and basic first aid procedures
- Excellent communication skills to interact positively with children, parents, school staff, and drivers
- Compassionate approach with patience for working with children of diverse needs
