Due to continued growth, A. Culpin & Son Ltd are looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic HGV Technician to join our busy and established team.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has strong diagnostic and technical skills, and can work to a consistently high standard.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, diagnosis and repair of commercial vehicles and trailers, ensuring all work is completed to DVSA standards.
Key responsibilities will include:
● Carrying out inspections, servicing, maintenance and repairs on commercial vehicles and trailers.
● Diagnosing faults using Volvo Tech Tool and other diagnostic equipment.
● Carrying out vehicle testing and fault-finding.
● Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults.
● Ensuring repairs are permanent, complete and carried out to a high professional standard.
● Completing job cards, inspection sheets and service documentation accurately using company-provided tablets.
● Undertaking Volvo training courses and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of technical information, repair methods and procedures.
● Ensuring all Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices are followed at all times.
● Carrying out any other duties reasonably within your capabilities as instructed by your manager.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
● A City & Guilds qualification, NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, or another suitable equivalent qualification.
● Previous experience in the diagnosis, servicing, maintenance and repair of commercial vehicles.
● Strong mechanical, electrical and diagnostic fault-finding skills.
● An organised and methodical approach to problem-solving with excellent attention to detail.
● A full and current UK driving licence.
● A HGV licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
● A friendly, confident and professional manner with good communication skills.
● The ability to work effectively under pressure.
● The ability to work as part of a larger team while also being confident working independently and using your own initiative.
