Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Flooring Yardman, where you will play a vital role in maintaining an organized and efficient warehouse & Site environment dedicated to flooring instalations. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work hands-on with a variety of Flooring materials handling tasks, ensuring that flooring products are properly stored, loaded, and prepared for delivery. Your proactive approach and mechanical aptitude will help keep operations running smoothly while supporting the overall success of our distribution process.
Responsibilities
- Transport. Load, unload, and transport flooring materials within the yard
- Manage warehouse inventory using a warehouse management system to track stock levels and locations accurately
- Handle materials with care, ensuring proper storage and stacking to prevent damage or safety hazards
- Assist with shipping and receiving processes by verifying incoming shipments and preparing outgoing orders
- Perform heavy lifting tasks regularly to move flooring planks, tiles, or rolls as needed
- Conduct routine yard inspections, fence checks, and safety audits to maintain a secure environment
- General Labouring Duties. Assisting floor fitters on site when required.
- Stock Control: Move, stack, and organize rolls of carpet, wood planks, vinyl, and tiles.
- Loading and Unloading: Use forklifts or manual lifting to handle deliveries from suppliers and load vans for fitters.
- Yard Safety: Keep walkways clear, manage waste disposal, and report any damaged goods.
- Order Preparation: Cut or stage materials accurately for delivery to site.
Job Requirements
- Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy rolls and stand for long shifts.
- Forklift License: A valid counterbalance forklift certificate is optional, as training will be given.
- Organization: Good skills in tracking inventory and checking delivery paperwork.
- Driving. Current clean driving Licence require for driving company vans & delivering goods to site.
Experience
- Prior warehouse experience/Labouring in the flooring industry would be advantageous.
- Valid forklift certification with proven operational skills
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) for inventory control/ XL & Windows.
- Mechanical knowledge related to handling heavy equipment or building materials preferred
- Experience in construction or materials handling environments is a plus
- Knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures and logistics operation.
