Overview
We are seeking an experienced and committed Senior Support Worker to support young people and provide leadership to the support team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care while acting as a positive role model for colleagues.
As a Senior Support Worker, you will support young people to achieve positive outcomes, promote independence, and ensure their physical, emotional, and social needs are met. You will also assist with staff supervision, shift coordination, and maintaining high standards of care and safeguarding.
Responsibilities
- Support young people to develop the skills, confidence, and resilience needed to progress towards independent living.
- Provide high-quality, person-centred support to young people in line with their care and support plans.
- Act as a positive role model and mentor to young People and the team.
- Lead shifts and ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the service.
- Promote positive behaviour and implement behaviour support strategies where required.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed and concerns are reported appropriately.
- Complete and oversee accurate record-keeping, reports, and documentation.
- Support young people to take medication in accordance with organisational policies, procedures, and relevant training.
- Support with risk assessments, support planning, and review processes.
- Participate in staff inductions and support the development of new team members.
- Liaise effectively with families, social workers, education providers, healthcare professionals, and other agencies.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment.
- Support management in achieving compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and quality standards.
Requirements
Essential
- Knowledge of Ofsted regulations, or willingness to undertake training to develop this knowledge.
- Experience supporting young people within supported accommodation, or a similar setting.
- Ability to lead shifts and support colleagues effectively.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage challenging situations professionally and calmly.
- Good IT and report-writing skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins where required.
- Right to work in the UK.

- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and participation in an on-call rota where required.
Desirable
- Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People's Workforce, Residential Childcare, Health and Social Care, or equivalent.
- Experience supervising or mentoring staff.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, attachment theory, and Positive Behaviour Support.
- Full UK driving licence (If you hold a valid driving licence and have access to your own vehicle, you must be willing to obtain business-use motor insurance to transport young people as part of your role. The company will reimburse the additional cost of upgrading your insurance to include business use)
