Cumberland Lodge, based in Windsor Great Park, is an educational charity that exists to provide young people with the skills, perspective, and confidence to question, challenge, and understand, some of the most complex social issues of our time. Our work currently centres around ethical leadership and developing democratic engagement.
Our charitable work is supported by income from hiring out our stunning facilities for residential and non-residential conferences, meetings, training courses, and special events.
This is primarily a bar-based role. However, the successful candidate will also be expected to support the Dining Team when bar work is unavailable or where required to meet the operational needs of the business. Flexibility and a willingness to work across both areas are therefore essential.
Job description
Reports to: Dining Room Supervisor and Hospitality Director
Functional relationships with: Dining Room and Bar team, Kitchen team, Duty Managers
Duties:
· To prepare the bar and bar area ready for service and keep the bar replenished
· To use a till and credit card terminal to take drink orders and payment and report any discrepancies immediately
· To ensure correct charges are made and payment received and that groups are billed correctly
· To be fully aware of the content, preparation and presentation of all wine lists and bar items
· To open wine that is required for reception/dinner
· To serve drinks at the bar or table
· To report any breakages or problems to Dining Room Supervisor, Duty Manager or to Hospitality Director
· To adhere to cleaning schedules, ensuring bar is kept clean and tidy during service and at the end of a shift
· To leave the bar clean and fully stocked at the end of a shift ensuring stock is rotated by date
· Support the service team by serving food and beverages as required.
· To be polite and helpful to guests and fellow work colleagues
· To portray a professional image at all times, dealing with visitors requirements in a warm and welcoming and efficient manner
General Duties
· Follow all Food Safety, Health & Safety and Manual Handling procedures.
· Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the department.
· Work collaboratively with the kitchen and restaurant teams to ensure efficient service.
· Provide courteous and professional assistance to guests when required.
· Carry out any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.

Essential Requirements
Experience
· Applicants must be at least 18 years old to meet a minimum age requirement to serve alcohol in an eating establishment
· Have previous bar experience in hospitality environment
· Able to perform the demanding physical tasks of a bar person for example, lifting boxes of glass bottles, bending and reaching etc.
· Experience of working within a team.
· Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy, with a strong sense of responsibility.
· Enthusiastic, proactive, and hardworking individual with a can- do attitude
· Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with guests, colleagues, and contractors.
· High standards and attention to detail
Desirable
· Food Hygiene Certificate.
· Manual Handling training.
· Previous experience working in a hotel or restaurant.
Hours: Average 15 hours per week
Working Pattern: Week 1 Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday – 5.45pm to 10.45m plus break (15 hours)
Week 2 Monday, Wednesday and Friday- 5.45pm to 10.45pm plus break (15 hours)
Earlier starts for both roles may be required, with notice, due to occasional special events
Cumberland Lodge is open Monday to Sunday and there flexibility is essential around business requirements as is the ability to cover annual leave (with notice)
The successful candidate must have access to a vehicle, as Cumberland Lodge is located remotely in Windsor Great Park without easy access by public transport.
