Overview
We are looking for a friendly and meticulous Bakery Packer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for packaging bakery products in line with our quality standards, while ensuring all orders are prepared accurately, efficiently, and ready for delivery in a timely and organised manner.
This role will also involve engaging with customers, including taking and processing orders, so an approachable manner with good spoken English is essential.
The Bakery Packer plays a crucial role in maintaining the overall quality of our products and supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the bakery.
Due to shift cover requirements and limited on-site parking, candidates within easy commuting distance of New Cross are encouraged to apply.
We are based in South East London on the border of New Cross and Peckham. South Bermondsey rail station is a 10 minute walk, and New Cross Gate station is around 20 minutes' walk.
Responsibilities:
- Packaging: Properly and efficiently package a variety of bakery products, ensuring that they meet quality and presentation standards.
- Order Preparation: Assemble customer orders accurately, making sure that the correct items and quantities are included.
- Customer Service: Take and process customer orders in person and over the phone, with a friendly, professional manner.
- Quality Control: Inspect bakery products for quality, freshness, and proper labelling before packaging.
- Labelling: Apply appropriate labels to packaged items, including product information, expiration dates, and any other required details.
- Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including packing areas and storage shelves, to comply with hygiene and safety standards.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other bakery staff members to ensure smooth workflow and efficient order fulfillment.
- Efficiency: Pack items efficiently to meet production and delivery schedules, minimizing waste and optimizing resources.
Requirements:
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accurate packaging and labeling.
- Customer Service: Confident, friendly manner when dealing with customers face-to-face and over the phone, with good spoken English.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, lift and carry packages, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Team Player: Strong teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively with other bakery staff members.
- Time Management: Efficient time management skills to meet packaging and order preparation deadlines.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic bakery environment.
- Hygiene Standards: Adherence to strict hygiene and sanitation standards to maintain a clean and safe working environment.

- Basic Numeracy: Basic numeracy skills to ensure accurate counting and packaging of items.
