Long Furlong Badger Club provides wraparound care for pupils aged 4-11 at Long Furlong Primary School. We offer morning and afternoon sessions five days a week, providing a fun, relaxed, safe and caring environment in which all pupils are encouraged to take part in a wide range of stimulating extra-curricular activities.
Role Summary
We are looking for a deputy manager to join the team in September 2026 and support our mission to give children a warm, fun and friendly after-school environment, which is vital to the parents of the school community. The deputy manager will supervise breakfast club and after-school club sessions and support the manager to ensure smooth daily operation of the club.

Job Description
- Ensure the smooth daily operation of the club together with the manager
- Provide a high level of pastoral care to children attending the club
- Assist in planning and supervising a wide range of activities, indoor and out, and purchase materials as necessary
- Assist in managing rosters to ensure all shifts are covered and staffed correctly
- Supervise and support staff during the sessions and input into their development
- Prepare and set up the after-school club ready to receive the children
- Ensure all the food is ordered, prepared and ready for snack time
- Ensure that the Club room is left tidy, clearing up and tidying away materials and equipment.
- Ensure that there is a good level of control throughout the club for the health and safety of all children, including taking registers at the start and signing out children as they depart
- Ensure that staff:pupil ratios are always kept throughout the sessions
- Assist the manager in safeguarding issues
- Use strong communication skills to ensure playworkers are working effectively
- Liaise with the Management Committee as required to ensure smooth running of the club.
Requirements:
- Experience of working with 4 to 11 year olds
- Experience of administration
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work as a team member and demonstrate leadership
- Experience of working within a play-based setting
Working hours:
Part-time, term time only
We are currently looking to fill vacancies for the following shifts starting in September - flexibility is possible:
Breakfast club: 07.30 – 09.00 Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
Afterschool club 15:00-18:00 Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
More shifts will be available on a flexible basis
Salary:
£14.80 per hour. Overtime paid at £14.80 per hour for admin tasks.
Safeguarding, food safety and first aid training will be provided once the post has been appointed. Opportunity to do a Playworker qualification.
