WAREHOUSE TEAM LEADER
Location: Mustang Park, Daventry
40 hours per week
Hours of work: Monday - Friday 08:30 -17:00

Purpose of the Role
As Warehouse Team Leader you will work under the guidance of the Warehouse Supervisor to assist in owning, leading and managing the NXS Warehouse based in Daventry. By empowering the team, you will develop a high performing productive warehouse team that will focus on delivering the Warehouse plan. You will be responsible for assisting in the safe, efficient and cost-effective management of all identified key tasks, whilst ensuring the team are working to the required standards, individually and as a whole.
The Warehouse Team are responsible for all warehouse activities achieving bespoke warehouse solutions for our customers products.
Key Accountabilities
· Working under the guidance of the Warehouse Supervisor you will assist in owning, leading and managing all warehouse activity to achieve and exceed departmental KPIs.
· Working with the team to ensure goods are received in the warehouse on time and in the correct manner, the relevant paperwork is completed, and investigations completed for damaged/short stock etc.
· Ensure stock is put away in the correct locations and that regular random stock checks take place.
· Working with the team to ensure goods out are picked and packed efficiently and despatched onto the correct vehicles or transport.
· Work closely with the eCommerce teams to cover tasks when required.
· Ensure safe systems of work within the warehouse are adhered to and make sure work areas are kept clear.
· Conduct regular racking inspections and reporting damage to the warehouse supervisor.
· Working with the Manager to ensure adequate cover at all times.
· Handle basic disciplinary actions and investigations.
· Assist in managing a team of warehouse operatives by target setting, debriefing on daily tasks and ensuring the most efficient processes are always adopted within the team.
· Ensure all rework is completed in line with customer specifications.
· Ensure that effective communication processes are in place to promote the regular and effective communication to the team of all matters including operational performance and health & safety.
· Assist in the effective resource planning and management to ensure that labour costs are managed and controlled in line with budget and plan.
· Working as part of the Warehouse team to ensure the correct standards of work are maintained and assisting with continuous improvement initiatives which will benefit the department and its customers.
· Assist the Warehouse Supervisor to lead, develop and inspire the team to continually deliver outstanding results and achieve departmental objectives.
· Assist with all day to day aspects of the Warehouse operation, such as administering the WMS and Absence system, highlighting and escalating product shorts and recalls, carrying out investigations and through effective resource planning, achieving all departmental KPIs.
· With the support of the Supervisor ensure that all employee relations activity, such as absence management, performance management, disciplinary proceedings and the training and development of your team is carried out in line with Company policies and procedures.
· Ensure that all relevant warehouse standard/safe operating procedures, are trained out to the team.
· Be responsible for all warehouse activities in the absence of the Warehouse Supervisor.
Loading
· Accurate loading of pallets on to the correct and designated vehicles.
· Ensure the vehicle is loaded in a safe manner following all safe systems of work.
· Propper use of rachet straps and use of adequate load restraints.
· Ensure that the right type of vehicle is used for the load and that the load is distributed evenly and secured correctly.
· Ensure that the vehicle is loaded so the load remains in a safe condition during loading, transit and unloading.
· Ensure the load is spread as evenly as possible, during both loading and unloading.
· Ensure loads are secured or arranged so that they do not slide around.
· Make sure safety equipment is considered.
· Ensure loads are suitably packaged.
· Ensure all the correct paperwork is given to the driver.
Wrapping
· Ensure all orders are wrapped in the correct manner so each pallet remains in a safe condition during loading, transit and unloading.
Tipping/Unloading
· Tipping into marshalled area/s ensuring zero damages are incurred.
· Ensure vehicles are tipped in a safe manner following all safe systems of work.
· Ensure all paperwork is filled out correctly.
General
· Ensure the high level of Health, safety and welfare of all self and others through adherence to the Health and Safety statement and policy.
· Adhere to all relevant warehouse standard operating procedures and safe systems of work at all times.
· Keep work area and yard area clean and tidy and clean as you go.
· Work efficiently and effectively as part of a team.
· Be adaptable and flexible in your approach to work.
· To perform any reasonable request from the Warehouse Supervisor.
Skills and Experience
· The role would suit someone who enjoys working as part of a team to meet common objectives and targets but who is also able to take on leadership of that team and make decisions.
· Previous experience of working within a busy warehouse is essential.
· You must possess excellent communication skills, be methodical and show good attention to detail as well as being punctual and reliable and able to demonstrate good organisational skills.
· You will possess good capability to be able to manage a team of operatives and ensure that all job requirements are being met within the team so that orders are processed efficiently.
· You must be able to be flexible within the shift pattern to cover sickness and holidays and able to work overtime as and when required.
· You must possess a good understanding of health and safety within the workplace and disciplinary processes.
· You must be able to implement effective work procedures to increase employee productivity and actively seek cost effective solutions to improve the day-to-day running of the operation.
· You must ensure a high standard of housekeeping within the warehouse and yard area paying particular attention to health and safety compliance.
· You will possess excellent numeracy, spoken and written communication skills and have strong IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, WMS, TMS).
· It would be advantageous to have PPT, Counterbalance and Reach Fork Lift Truck Licences.
· You must be willing to challenge established practices and aim for continuous improvement.
