Expectations: Minimum of 2 days per week Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital. Minimum of 1 day per week in base office(s), with flexibility for hybrid working, dependant on the needs of the business.
Holidays: 26 days plus statutory holidays per annum to be calculated pro rata

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To provide independent, victim/survivor centred emotional and practical specialist support and advocacy to those affected by domestic violence who are within healthcare settings and deemed as being high risk. To support healthcare staff to identify victims of domestic abuse regardless of the purpose and nature of their visit and maximise this opportunity to provide vital support. to use the privacy and safety of the health setting environment. To provide training to groups of healthcare staff on domestic abuse to enhance their ability to identify and appropriately communicate with domestic abuse victims.
To provide a client centred, trauma informed specialist domestic abuse service working within hospital settings.
- To risk assess and safety plan with victims of domestic abuse in hospital settings to help keep them and their children safe
- To recognise individual need and to facilitate access to other services that clients and their children need including crisis planning to resolve any immediate safety needs e.g access to refuge or police intervention
- To provide safety information and advice so victims know where to get help in future
- To support the empowerment of the service user and facilitate their understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence
- To work alongside healthcare staff on a case consultation basis to help identify victims, providing expert advice, training, and raising awareness to support disclosures of domestic abuse both from patients and staff
- providing a visible and proactive presence in the hospitals attending safeguarding meetings, ward/nurse handover meetings, deliver training and provide advice and support to staff around domestic abuse
- Help clients access their rights within and external to the criminal justice process
