As our business continues to grow, we're looking for a proactive and commercially minded Purchaser to join our procurement team.This is an excellent opportunity for someone with purchasing experience who enjoys building supplier relationships, improving processes, and ensuring materials are sourced efficiently and cost-effectively.
The Role As a Purchaser, you'll be responsible for sourcing materials and services, maintaining supplier relationships, and ensuring products are purchased at the right quality, price, and delivery schedule. You'll work closely with Operations, Production, Finance, and Sales to support business objectives and maintain stock availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Source materials, products, and services from approved suppliers.
- Raise and manage purchase orders using the company's ERP system.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules where appropriate.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve supply issues.
- Work closely with internal departments to forecast purchasing requirements.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve supplier performance.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier information.
- Ensure compliance with company purchasing procedures and ethical sourcing standards.
- Support continuous improvement within the procurement function.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in a purchasing, buying, or procurement role (2+ years preferred).
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Experience using ERP or MRP systems.
- Confident using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive, team-focused approach.
- CIPS qualification or working towards CIPS is desirable but not essential.
