THE OPPORTUNITY
Redline is an established commercial AV integration business, working with higher/further education, corporate and public-sector clients across the UK. We're growing, and we're putting proper systems and process behind how the business runs behind the scenes — this newly created role sits at the centre of that.
We're looking for someone to take genuine ownership of our office and operations function — not to be handed a task list, but to own how the operational side of the business runs day to day. You'll work directly alongside the Director and the Lead Engineer as the third pillar of the business: they own commercial and technical delivery, you own the operational and administrative backbone that holds it together.
This is a standalone role, based full-time at our Hinckley office — you will not be managing a team. You'll be trusted to run your own domain independently, make decisions, and improve how we do things, with minimal day-to-day oversight. If you thrive on being handed a function and told “make this work properly,” this is for you
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
- Office & operations: run the day-to-day office and its administration, own our core systems and records, chase outstanding actions, orders, invoices and paperwork so nothing slips, coordinate between customers, suppliers, contractors and the team, and manage fleet administration and renewals (MOT, tax, insurance, servicing, breakdown cover).
- Procurement & purchasing: own purchasing and supplier ordering, reconciled against project requirements, manage supplier relationships and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Finance & commercial administration: support quotations and invoicing within Xero and our job-management system, manage subcontractor timesheets, and produce accurate records and reports.
- Compliance & accreditation: take named ownership of compliance, keep accreditations (e.g. SafeContractor, SMAS) current and audit-ready, coordinate RAMS and the periodic safety-check register, and run our compliance platform (Citation Atlas) as the single home for this.
- Systems & process improvement: review and improve our software, systems and processes, help implement and then own our new job-management system, and make sure incoming enquiries and tenders are routed and never missed.
- Marketing & social media: own our LinkedIn and Instagram presence, posting one to two times a week and working with the engineering team to source fresh content.
- PA support: provide ad hoc PA support to the Director (diary, correspondence and general admin support) as needed.
ROOM TO GROW
This role has real trajectory. As trust builds, there's genuine scope to take on broader involvement across the business — supporting project coordination, leading on contractor engagement, and becoming a sounding board on operational and commercial decisions. It's earned rather than granted on day one, but for the right person, the room is there.
ABOUT YOU
Driven, proactive and commercially aware — you look for the better way, not just the next task.
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership; happy lone working.
- A confident decision-maker who isn't afraid to challenge how things are done.
- Trustworthy and level-headed, firm and persistent when chasing things through to completion.
- Highly organised, with genuine attention to detail across multiple priorities and deadlines.
- A strong communicator, confident dealing with customers, suppliers and contractors.
- Confident with Microsoft and/or Google productivity tools; quick to pick up new systems.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own car (essential).
- Willing to travel — regular trips to our Southern office, plus occasional trade shows and industry events in the UK and Europe. Not a weekly demand, but part of the role
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
Attitude and ownership matter more than a tick-box CV — but the following would help you hit the ground running:
- Construction, electrical, engineering, AV or installation sector background.
- Experience with Xero.
- Experience with a job-management, project or CRM system (e.g. WorkflowMax, Monday.com or similar).
- Knowledge of Citation, or similar HR / health & safety / compliance software.
- Exposure to project coordination or contractor management.
- A track record of improving office systems or delivering cost-saving and process improvements.
