Take the next step in your engineering career - Are you an experienced Senior Authorised Person, Senior Engineer, or Power Utilities professional looking to take your career in a new direction?
Do you have strong practical and technical experience across power utilities engineering, electrical maintenance, high and low voltage systems, or overhead lines, and would enjoy using that knowledge to develop the next generation of engineers?
Due to continued growth in our Training Division, we are looking for an experienced Training Assessor to join our growing team and play a key role in developing, assessing, and supporting engineers and operational personnel working within the power utilities sector. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has built their career in the field and is now ready to take the next step into a training, assessment, and development-focused position.
The Role
As Training Assessor, you will use your industry experience to assess competence, provide technical guidance and help individuals progress through their training and development programmes. You will work closely with apprentices, trainees, engineers, and experienced operational staff, ensuring they develop the technical knowledge, practical skills and safety awareness required to work safely and competently within the power utilities environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assessing practical and technical competence against agreed standards and frameworks.
- Supporting the development of engineers, apprentices and operational personnel.
- Delivering practical and technical training across relevant power utilities disciplines.
- Supporting training and assessment relating to overhead line systems and associated infrastructure.
- Providing constructive feedback and creating development plans where required.
- Maintaining accurate assessment and training records.
- Working with operational and engineering teams to ensure training reflects current industry practices.
- Promoting a strong culture of safety, technical competence and continuous improvement.
- Supporting internal authorisation and competency processes where appropriate.
- Keeping up to date with relevant industry standards, procedures, legislation and best practice.
About You
We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have developed their career within the power utilities industry and are now looking for a role where they can share their knowledge and experience with others.

We are particularly interested in experienced engineers who have the technical credibility, communication skills and enthusiasm to develop others.
Why join us?
This is more than simply a Training Assessor position. It is an opportunity to take the technical knowledge and experience you have built throughout your engineering career and use it to influence and develop the engineers of tomorrow. You will join an organisation operating within an essential and continually evolving industry, with the opportunity to develop your own career while helping others achieve theirs.
