Job Title: Graduate Teaching Assistant

An amazing specialist school in Leeds is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to join their team as a Graduate Teaching Assistant.
The Role
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant you will be working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), supporting them through their education journey whether that is through play-based learning or a semi-formal curriculum.
Your role will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support for children with SEND.
- Using PECS, makaton, visual schedules, and communication boards.
- You will be creating a safe and nurturing environment for the children to thrive.
- You will work closely with the class teacher and other education professionals to support the growth and development of the pupils.

This role is for individuals who have a genuine passion for working with children and young people in education. We are looking for candidates from a variety of backgrounds, especially those who bring patience, creativity and dedication to support diverse learners.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has great communication skills
- Takes time to understand each pupils needs
- Is enthusiastic and has a positive attitude towards working in a school environment.
- Is a team player, adaptable, passionate and knowledgeable about working with children with special educational needs, and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
- A graduate in Psychology, Health and Social care, Childhood Studies or Sports Studies.
- Someone who is keen to gain practical classroom experience and develop professionally.
Working Hours
Monday - Friday
8:30am - 3:30pm

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
Pay: £94.00-£115.00 per day
