Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust welcomes applicants to apply for a Fellow post in Ophthalmology with special interest in Oculoplastics at the Western Eye Hospital. This is a full time post within the Oculoplastic service There may also be an opportunity to undertake sub-specialist work in negotiation with the successful candidate.
The post offers an exciting opportunity for an energetic and innovative person to join the ophthalmic service for the UK's first Academic Health Science Centre and the largest trust in the country.
Applicants must be currently or previously been working within the NHS, have MBBS or equivalent and at least 4 years training in ophthalmology and be fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice.

The post holder will be involved in:
Out-patient care of adnexal patients to include trauma, eyelid, orbital and lacrimal disorders in adults and children
To be involved in their ad hoc care of eyelid trauma and emergencies and to be available for advice when off site.
To undertake A&E sessions at the Western Eye Hospital, (at most once week unless paid separately)
To maintain good communication with GP, optometrists, hospital clinicians and other allied professionals
To manage Individual Funding Request applications
To provide teaching to medical students, other junior doctors, optometrists
To assist in academic and pharmaceutical research activities within the department
To vet adnexal referrals
To assist in the management and development of the clinical service

- The post holder will provide high quality care to patients in Ophthalmology
- The post holder must be medically qualified and maintain GMC registration.
- To develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties required of the post.
- To ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care activities.
- To ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and to respond to their views.
- To take an active role in managing patient pathways in their respective area.
- To undertake administrative duties associated with their patients in line with departmental guidelines.
- To support with the training of junior specialist trainees and other junior doctors in the Ophthalmology department.
- To oversee the appropriate booking of theatre lists.
- To demonstrate excellent leadership skills within the wider Ophthalmology team.
- To work collaboratively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and Imperial College as required.
- Adhere to Trust / departmental guidelines on leave including reporting absence.
