As a Community Information Officer, you'll be one of the first people local residents turn to when they need information, guidance or support. Based within our place-based community centres, you'll help connect people to the services, groups and opportunities that can improve their wellbeing, independence and quality of life. You'll create a welcoming environment, build strong local relationships and help ensure our community centres remain active, inclusive and responsive to local needs.
Many people do not know where to turn when they need support. Whether someone is looking for help with caring responsibilities, community activities, family support, wellbeing services or opportunities to reduce isolation, they need someone who can help them navigate what is available. This role helps bridge that gap. By connecting residents with the right support at the right time, you'll help strengthen communities, improve wellbeing and ensure that people feel informed, connected and valued.

You'll work alongside colleagues, community groups and partner organisations who share a common goal of helping residents live healthier, more connected lives. The impact of your work will be visible every day through the people you support and the relationships you help build across Newport.
You'll provide information, advice and guidance to residents, helping them access local services, activities and support networks. You'll welcome visitors into our community centres, promote activities and work with partners to encourage greater community participation. You'll help maintain local information resources, support unpaid carers, contribute to centre operations and ensure buildings remain safe, welcoming and well managed. Through your engagement with residents and organisations, you'll help bring communities together and create thriving local hubs.
We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people and making a positive difference in their lives. You'll be approachable, organised and confident communicating with people from a wide range of backgrounds. You may have experience in a community, health, social care or education setting and will understand the importance of providing accurate information with empathy and sensitivity. Most importantly, you'll be motivated by helping others, building relationships and ensuring local residents can access the support they need to thrive.
