The difference you will make as Bricklayer
Reporting to the Foreperson, the new Bricklayer will be responsible for delivering bricklaying repairs and maintenance works across Riverside’s properties. You will play a key role in ensuring that our homes and communities are maintained to a safe, compliant and high standard, supporting positive outcomes for our customers.
You will carry out a range of bricklaying and associated building works, including repairs to brickwork, blockwork, boundary walls, pathways and structural elements. Your role will contribute to maintaining property standards, supporting service delivery targets and ensuring customer satisfaction.
You will work independently as well as part of a wider team, contributing to service delivery targets and supporting colleagues where required. You will ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with agreed standards and KPIs.
About you
We are looking for someone with:
- Experience in bricklaying within a repairs, maintenance or construction environment
- · Ability to carry out a range of bricklaying and general building repairs to a high standard
- · Knowledge of construction methods, materials and property maintenance standards
- · Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively to meet service demands and deadlines
- · Strong attention to detail, ensuring quality workmanship and customer satisfaction
- · Good understanding of health and safety requirements and safe systems of work

Role Profile
You will carry out bricklaying repairs and maintenance works across Riverside properties, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and in accordance with organisational procedures and quality requirements. You will undertake work on brickwork, blockwork, boundary walls, steps, pathways and other associated building repairs, ensuring that all activities are completed safely and efficiently across the Cumbria Region.
You will manage your own workload effectively, completing repairs within agreed timescales while maintaining quality and performance standards. You will deliver a high level of customer service, communicating clearly with residents and ensuring minimal disruption during works.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues and other trades to support efficient service delivery, respond flexibly to changing operational priorities and contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and service delivery.
Role Responsibilities
- Carry out bricklaying repairs and maintenance works on residential properties and communal areas
- Repair, replace and rebuild brickwork, blockwork, walls, steps and other masonry structures
- Undertake pointing, rendering, concrete repairs and associated building works where required
- Diagnose defects and identify appropriate repair solutions
- Ensure all work is completed in line with company standards, specifications and agreed timescales
- Maintain compliance with health and safety legislation, policies and procedures at all times
- Deliver a high standard of customer service, communicating effectively with residents
- Accurately record job details, materials used and work completed using mobile technology systems
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and other trades to support service delivery
- Ensure properties are left clean, safe and secure following completion of works
- Support the achievement of KPIs and service level agreements
- Respond flexibly to changing workloads and operational priorities
- Ensure company tools, equipment and vehicles are used safely and maintained appropriately

Person specification
Essential
- Proven experience in bricklaying within a repairs, maintenance or construction environment
- Ability to carry out bricklaying and associated building works to a high standard
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Experience working within social housing
- Relevant NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Bricklaying (or equivalent)
- Experience working as part of a multi-trade repairs team
- Additional health and safety qualifications
