The Opportunity
We are looking for an enthusiastic, approachable and energetic Tearoom & Visitor Experience Assistant to become part of our lovely team at Lulworth Castle.
You will be a key member of the team, supporting the delivery of excellent visitor and event experiences across the castle site, welcoming and engaging with our visitors to ensure they enjoy every aspect of their visit.
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same and is perfectly suited to those who thrive in public-facing settings and are passionate about helping visitors get the most out of their time here, whilst contributing to the stewardship of our outstanding castle and park.
Your key responsibility will be the serving customers in our on site Tearoom but you will also support the team with ticketing and visitor welcome, care and presentation of the site and special events. Applicants must be reliable and able to work varied hours including weekends and evenings, must have strong communication and customer service skills, the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, remain calm under pressure and have good physical strength and stamina.

What you’ll be doing
- Greeting visitors and providing a warm, welcoming first impression.
- Selling tickets and providing information about the castle and events.
- Supporting the operation of the tearooms, including serving customers with barista-made hot drinks, washing dishes, stock rotations.
- Assisting with event operations, including stewarding, parking management, and visitor guidance.
- Supporting event set-up and breakdown, including furniture and equipment movement.
- Assisting with general site operations as required to ensure smooth visitor flow.
- Maintaining high standards of customer service, safety, and presentation at all times, helping to create a positive, safe, and enjoyable experience for all visitors.
- Following all Health & Safety procedures.
- Assisting with evening and weekend events as required.
This is a seasonal role until the end of October 2026. Working hours are between 21 and 40 hours per week on a rota basis.
Desirable skills/qualifications: First Aid, Barista experience, events experience, knowledge of history and/or local history.
