Experienced Multi-Skilled Joiner / Property Maintenance Operative
Stirling City Centre£20–£25 per hour depending on experience & skillsFull-time or part-time considered | Long-term / permanent opportunity
We are looking for an experienced, reliable and highly practical Multi-Skilled Joiner / Property Maintenance Operative to assist with the ongoing maintenance, repair and improvement of a substantial property in Stirling city centre.
This is not simply a short-term refurbishment position. We have an ongoing programme of property maintenance and improvements, together with further projects planned for the future, so there is excellent potential for this to become a long-term/permanent position for the right person.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, can work independently and has accumulated a broad range of practical building skills and experience.
The Role
Work will be varied and may include:
● Joinery and carpentry repairs and improvements
● Doors, frames, skirtings, flooring and general timberwork
● Painting, decorating and preparation work
● Plasterboard and minor wall and ceiling repairs
● General building repairs and maintenance
● Guttering, downpipes and rainwater goods
● Minor roof/slate repairs where appropriately experienced and competent
● External timberwork and minor masonry repairs
● Basic plumbing and maintenance tasks
● Refurbishment and property improvement work
● Identifying defects and recommending sensible, cost-effective solutions
● Working alongside specialist contractors where required
● General property maintenance as required
We are not expecting one person to be qualified in every trade. Specialist electrical, gas and other regulated work will continue to be undertaken by appropriately qualified contractors.
Our priority is finding someone with a strong core trade — ideally joinery/carpentry or general building — who has developed a good range of additional practical skills.
About You
Ideally, you will:
● Have several years’ experience in joinery, building, maintenance or a similar trade
● Be confident carrying out a broad range of property repairs and improvements
● Produce a consistently good standard of finished work
● Be able to assess problems and suggest practical solutions
● Be comfortable working independently without constant supervision
● Be reliable, organised and trustworthy
● Take genuine pride in your workmanship
● Have your own transport
● Ideally have your own general hand tools
● Be comfortable working both internally and externally
Additional trade skills, qualifications or experience in areas such as roofing, slating, plumbing, plastering, decorating or general building work would be particularly welcome.
Pay & Hours
£20–£25 per hour, depending upon experience, qualifications and the range of skills you can offer.
We are flexible regarding hours for the right person and will consider either full-time or part-time employment.
For an exceptional candidate with a particularly strong range of skills and experience, remuneration can be discussed.
There is a substantial amount of varied work available and further projects planned. We are therefore much more interested in finding the right person for the long term than simply filling the position quickly.
This could particularly suit an experienced tradesperson who enjoys varied work, solving problems and taking responsibility for maintaining and improving properties rather than continually moving between construction sites.
To apply: Please send us a brief summary of your experience, the trades and skills you are competent in, any relevant qualifications and your current availability.
