Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organised Estimator / Bid Writer to join our dynamic team. This role involves preparing accurate and compelling bids and proposals for a variety of Construction projects, including fit out, refurbishment and new build. Ensuring they meet client specifications and company standards. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be proficient in word processing, and have an eye for detail to proofread and refine bid documents meticulously. Responsibilities
- Review architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and scope documents to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Prepare detailed and accurate take off for quantifying materials, labour, and equipment needed for projects.
- Work with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and evaluate quotes.
- Prepare detailed tender submissions, budgets, and cost plans.
- Participate in pre-construction planning, including risk analysis and value engineering.
- Collaborate with design, production, and project management teams to refine and validate estimates.
- Monitor costs during the lifecycle of a project and provide cost comparisons against estimates and Post Project reviews and reports.
- Preparation of bid proposals and tender documentation.
- Maintain and update a cost database to reflect current material and labour rates.
- Review tender portals for new opportunities.
- Bid Writing.
- Liaise and negotiate with Supply Chain.
Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as an Estimator in construction within the UK, with modular or off-site construction experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost drivers.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, Buildertrend, Excel).
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent communication skills and time management skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
