Job Title: 1:1 Support Worker
Location: Client’s home (community-based support)
Hours: Part-time, including evenings/weekends as required. Day shift pattern 7am-6pm or 6pm-10:30pm
Pay Rate: £15 per hour
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Support Worker to assist an individual living with Muscular Dystrophy (MD) to maintain independence and quality of life at home. The role involves supporting personal care, health and wellbeing, and household management while promoting dignity, choice, and autonomy.
Key Responsibilities
Personal Care and Health Support
- Assist with daily personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting, and grooming.
- Support with manual handling, hoist transfers, and mobility as required..
- Monitor wellbeing and report any concerns or changes to the client or relevant professionals.
Household and Domestic Tasks
- Support with cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe and pleasant home environment.
- Assist with grocery shopping, meal planning, and preparation of healthy meals.
- Help organise household items and ensure essential supplies are maintained.
Administrative and Record Keeping
- Keep accurate daily notes and communication logs where required.
- Follow care plans and contribute to reviews of support needs.
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting adults with physical disabilities or complex needs
- Knowledge of manual handling and use of mobility or hoisting equipment.
- Full UK driver’s licence (Desirable)
- Enhanced DBS check required prior to employment.
- Compassionate, reliable, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a small team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions
This role is based in the client’s home and community. Duties include both active physical support and periods of companionship. Working hours may include evenings and weekends, depending on the client’s needs.

Shadow shifts will be offered at £10 per hour, this is for you to learn the service users daily routine, costs will be recovered for shadow shifts if you leave this position before 6 months.
