Are you a patient, resilient and passionate Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
We are recruiting dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistants to work in a range of welcoming primary schools across Manchester from September. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support to achieve their full potential.
The Role
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with children who display challenging behaviours.
- Support pupils in managing their emotions and developing positive behaviour strategies.
- Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to implement individual support plans.
- Promote a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment.
- Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and social skills.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for candidates who have:
- Previous experience supporting children with SEMH needs in a school or similar setting.
- Experience working with pupils who display challenging behaviours.
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
Desirable
- Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3).
- Experience supporting children with Autism (ASC), ADHD or other additional needs.
- Team Teach, MAPA or other positive behaviour management training (desirable but not essential).
