We are looking for a Housing professional to join us to provide frontline housing advice services. Whilst Housing experience is preferred it is not critical as full training will be provided.
Making sure that our residents have somewhere safe and sustainable to call home is a top priority for us. Over the past few years alone we have:
-
ensured there’s enough support so that no one needs to sleep on the streets.
- invested millions of pounds into our temporary short stay accommodation
- delivered more than 200 new affordable homes for local people.
- Ensured the Housing Solutions Service can meet the housing advice and support needs of all our residents.
About the role
As a Housing Accommodation and Move-On Officer, you will be responsible for your own caseload and work alongside the existing team to deliver our front-line support services for homeless households in temporary accommodation.
You will play a key role in providing a comprehensive and innovative housing service including rent account and health and safety management. You will appreciate that every customer is different, as are their individual circumstances. You will be required to support customers throughout their stay in temporary accommodation, ensuring that they are adhering to their personalised housing plans and working with them to move them onto a long term, settled home. You will be responsible for working collaboratively with other agencies, as required, to achieve a positive move on outcome with each customer.
The Accommodation Team provides a customer support service to anyone who is provided with temporary accommodation by the Council. This service is delivered from our offices based within our Council owned temporary accommodation; Westward House, which means face to face support is accessible to residents of Westward House and Freeland Close. The team also provides face to face support to our dispersed units of temporary accommodation elsewhere in the District and neighbouring Districts.
About you
Passionate and motivated with a helpful and friendly ‘can do’ attitude, you will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be highly organised.
Attention to detail is essential, along with a willingness to go the extra mile for our customers. You will be able to work on your own initiative to drive cases forward and support the rest of the team where necessary. The nature of the role is pressurised, so the ability to work under pressure is essential along with effective and accurate administration skills.
