Cleaning Supervisor

Job Duties:
Role Description
Reporting to the Lead Technician, this role is responsible for supervising all aspects of the Kitchen Deep Cleaning operation and ensuring that activities are carried out in line with the Senior Technician's direction and the required CleanEvent and client standards.
This is a hands-on supervisory role. You will lead and work alongside the wider Kitchen Deep Cleaning team, allocate and monitor work, support team members and ensure that commercial kitchen areas and equipment are cleaned safely, thoroughly and within the required timescales.
Key Responsibilities
Under the direction and guidance of the Senior Technician, you will be responsible for the following:
· Team Supervision and People Management
· Direct, control, motivate, encourage and support all personnel under your supervision.
· Manage team members' performance and direct them to undertake cleaning tasks as required to meet the responsibilities of the role.
· Brief team members on the required cleaning standard, method, timescale and relevant health and safety controls before work starts.
· Monitor progress throughout each shift, provide guidance and practical support, and reallocate resources where necessary to keep work on schedule.
· Assist with signing staff in and out and controlling staffing numbers in accordance with the rota.
· Monitor agency staff while on shift, where applicable.
· Arrange or escalate cover requirements for staff absence and sickness in consultation with the Senior Technician.
· Provide ongoing coaching and practical training for team members and assist the Senior Technician or relevant manager with the appraisal process.
· Ensure all team members comply with CleanEvent dress, behaviour and conduct standards.
· Motivate team members and maintain positive working relationships with and between members of the team.
Cleaning Service and Quality
· Provide an efficient, safe, consistent and high-quality service to the satisfaction of CleanEvent clients, following all relevant CleanEvent procedures and guidelines.
· Receive instructions from the Senior Technician, organise the work required and allocate planned and ad hoc cleaning duties according to individual competence and operational priorities.
· Work as part of the team and ensure all commercial kitchen equipment and surrounding areas are fully deep cleaned to the required specification.
· Inspect completed work and arrange prompt corrective cleaning where standards have not been met.
· Liaise with relevant client contacts and participate in cleaning audits when required.
· Protect client property and report any damage, breakage, missing items or other concerns immediately.
· Ensure all staff areas and cleaning work areas are kept clean and tidy at all times.
Kitchen Deep Cleaning Duties
The Supervisor will lead and participate in the deep cleaning of the following equipment and areas. This is not an exhaustive list, as each kitchen may contain different equipment:
· Ovens, including Rational-type and traditional ovens.
· Six-burner hobs and solid tops.
· Fryers.
· Filters, plenums and canopies.
· Salamanders.
· Hot cupboards, work surfaces and trolleys.
· Fridges and freezers, including walk-in units.
· Sinks, floors, walls, ceilings, wheels and doors.
Equipment, Health and Safety
· Ensure all equipment is used safely and correctly by team members and that any faults or damage are reported promptly.
· Ensure staff who operate mechanical sweepers, cleaning machines or other mechanical equipment are properly trained and, where required, authorised or licensed to do so.
· Operate specialist cleaning equipment competently and supervise its safe use, including floor cleaning machines, steam cleaning machines, decarbonising machines, wet and dry vacuums, and pressure washing machines.
· Ensure safe working practices are followed by all team members, including relevant risk assessments, safe systems of work, COSHH requirements and personal protective equipment instructions.
· Ensure current RAMS and COSHH information is available in the relevant cleaning cupboards or work areas.
· Carry out pre-use checks, ensure equipment is cleaned after use and confirm that all equipment is returned to the correct storage area.
· Ensure cleaning storage areas are clean, organised, secure and accessible.
· Maintain a safe working area by controlling access where necessary, managing slip and trip risks, and ensuring waste and residues are disposed of correctly.
· Stop work and escalate immediately if there is an unsafe condition, incident, near miss or task outside the team's competence or agreed method.
Communication, Reporting and Administration
· Maintain effective communication with the Senior Technician, relevant venue management and client contacts.
· Maintain CleanEvent's cleaning or event management system, including FH where applicable.
· Prepare and submit all required shift reports, cleaning schedules, quality checklists, equipment records and incident documentation accurately and on time.
· Send a weekly summary of cleaning tasks planned for the following week to the Senior Technician or relevant line manager.
· Conduct a weekly toolbox talk with team members and retain any required attendance or briefing records.
· Send store or consumable orders to the relevant line manager during the final week of each month, or in line with local ordering arrangements.
· Provide an accurate shift handover covering progress, outstanding work, quality concerns, incidents, staffing issues and equipment faults.
· Suggest practical improvements to working methods, quality, productivity and safety.
Person Specification
Essential
· A motivated, reliable and hard-working approach, with a willingness to undertake physically demanding work involving heavy grease and dirty kitchen equipment.
· Confidence to lead a small team, allocate work and give clear, respectful instructions.
· A strong commitment to safe working practices, hygiene and consistently high cleaning standards.
· The ability to remain organised, make practical decisions and respond calmly when priorities change.
· Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, managers and client representatives.
· Willingness to learn, complete required training and use specialist equipment safely.
· The ability to work both independently and as part of the wider team.
Desirable
· Previous supervisory, team-leading or mentoring experience.
· Previous experience of commercial kitchen deep cleaning, industrial cleaning, hospitality cleaning or a similar environment.
· Experience of using specialist cleaning machines and completing cleaning or quality records.
· Awareness of COSHH, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
Training and Development
You will receive training and support to ensure you understand CleanEvent's cleaning methods, equipment, safety requirements, systems, quality expectations and supervisory responsibilities. As your experience develops, you will be expected to broaden your skills, suggest improvements, solve problems and enhance the effectiveness of the role and the wider team.
