As an Electrical Work Controller in our Defence Academy Estates team, you’ll coordinate electrical maintenance activities, manage subcontractors, and help ensure a safe, efficient environment that supports the development of future UK Armed Forces leaders. Your work has purpose, helping to keep critical facilities operational and supporting a site where learning, leadership, and innovation thrive.
Serco provides Total Facilities Management services at the Defence Academy of the UK, a prestigious establishment responsible for postgraduate education and specialist training for members of the Armed Forces and Ministry of Defence civil servants. In this role, you'll play an important part in delivering impactful solutions across the estate, ensuring maintenance activities are effectively planned and managed while supporting continuous improvement and creating a positive impact on the wider Defence community.
What you’ll do as an Electrical Work Controller

Plan and coordinate electrical work activities to maximise efficiency and service delivery.

Oversee reactive maintenance, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and minor project works across a range of electrical systems and assets.

Raise purchase order requisitions for works under your control.

Maintain and update the Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) system to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) are achieved.

Work collaboratively with colleagues and contractors to deliver high-quality outcomes and maintain productivity.

Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities for efficiency and cost savings.

Experience in a similar role would be beneficial, although training will be provided for the right candidate.

Good knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements relevant to the construction industry.

Strong planning, organisational and analytical skills with a numerate approach to problem-solving.

Confident using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word and Excel.

Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at different levels.
